This year has brought with it so much division amongst friends, family, and loved ones. Whether it's a conflict between how people are handling the pandemic or who to vote for based on the theatrics we've experienced this year. One thing's for sure, we will still have each other to live with beyond 2020 (yes, there is a beyond). Having tough conversations is important but learning how to do so without cancellation is even more challenging. Psychologist, liberal wife to a conservative partner, Jeanne Safer has written "I Love You, But I Hate Your Politics: How to Protect Your Intimate Relationships in a Poisonous Partisan World".
It's getting increasingly difficult to communicate with people who share different views nowadays. It's healthy to take a step back and evaluate how to evolve around the tension whether that's at home with close family or with your colleagues.
