Hello May!

Dear Price Family,

As we close out the 2019-2020 school year, we hope to leave you with exciting memories to reflect on from this past year and hope for the future as we continue to adjust to these uncertain times. This year, the Price Women & Allies (PWA) Executive Board worked to hold programs that not only inspired, but empowered women and our allies. PWA had a jam-packed Fall semester, with a full roster of gatherings including our annual welcome back “Thirsty Thursday” event, a library crawl, a career panel, and our newest addition, the Girl Gang Hangs!  In the Spring semester, we held a joint cosmetic policy panel with the Society of Cosmetic Chemists at USC, organized a sex workers rights panel, co-hosted a policy school mixer with Graduate Policy and Administration Community (GPAC) and with UCLA Luskin, and we continued our Girl Gang Hangs. These programs demonstrated our commitment to fostering a diverse community at Price and were aimed at advocating on cross-sectoral issues. In April, we recognized Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and the USC Graduate Student Government (GSG) passed the “Resolution on Sexual Assault and LGBTQ+ Healthcare Resources” (see meeting slides) -- shoutout to our Co-Executive Director, Samantha Levra, for all her hardwork on the resolution!

In the next couple weeks, many of you will be closing this chapter of your academic journeys. We want to congratulate you on all your accomplishments and celebrate your incredible achievements! There is no substitute for the hard work we have witnessed from the Price community. Whether a woman or an ally, your spirit and work ethic will continue to drive the long lasting change we all hope to see in our communities. Looking forward, continue to investigate your interests and carry lessons learned from your colleagues and classmates. Bring new perspectives out into the world and always keep an open mind; this is how we foster diversity and influence a future for the public good.

With that, we want to thank you, Price Family, for your continued support of our mission and vision, attendance to our events, and overall embrace of PWA.  Cheers to you, Price Women and our Allies, who have and will work oh so very hard to continue PWA's legacy!

In Solidarity, Price Women & Allies
