October Newsletter

Hello October!

Dear Price Family,

We cannot believe we are already well into Week 8 of the school year! We hope the school year is off to a great start and you are all trying to rest when you can. The enthusiasm we experienced at the First Friday Trivia and the Girl Gang kickoff have been infectious and we cannot wait to continue promoting PWA’s mission with you all. We feel honored to be able to interact with each and every one of you and can’t wait to see what the school year holds. We have a slate of fun and interactive events this Fall and can’t wait to see you at them!

On September 18th, 2020 we lost a a celebrated figure as an advocate for race and gender equality, civil rights hero, feminist symbol, and cultural icon – Notorious RBG. As we reflect on this loss, we want to take a few moments to celebrate the life and legacy of Ruther Bader Ginsburg by providing some links and videos on our website. Today, PWA is remembering that the fight for equality is far from over and that we must continue down that path RBG so tirelessly fought for.

Additionally, we recognize October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The forced cohabitation of many families around the world has shown signs of a real ‘emergency in an emergency’. Since the pandemic, there has been an increase in reports of domestic abuse, especially of women who were forced to live for months within an abuse relationship. The UN Women has provided a report synthesizing information on the impact of COVID-19 on violence again women and girls. If you are a survivor, you are not alone. Here is a link to some additional resources from the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council. NODVLA also provides a map of services in your area.
